Is MW4 DMZ free to play?
MW4 DMZ is included in the paid Modern Warfare 4 game. The official store lists it alongside Campaign and Multiplayer; Vault Edition is not the only edition containing DMZ.

Standard vs Vault
Buy an edition for its listed benefits, not because you think the base DMZ mode requires Vault. Standard includes the game; Vault adds premium content. Review the Deployment Bonus page for the actual extra gear and Operator-slot distinction.
Source for this sectionThree different meanings of “free”
These phrases answer different questions.
- Free loadout: equipment offered inside DMZ; it does not grant game ownership.
- Open beta: a dated test event with its own content list; it is not a permanent DMZ offer.
- Free-to-play: access without buying the game; the checked MW4 store does not describe DMZ as a standalone free product.
Check the platform before paying
Select your platform and region in the official store to inspect the current price and entitlement. A subscription, promotional weekend or upgrade may have separate conditions; this page does not treat an old promotion as a current offer. If you already own Standard, compare the upgrade benefits before purchasing the entire game again.
