MW2 DMZ vs MW4: what changed?
The most useful comparison is what you do after a deployment. Infinity Ward identifies dedicated progression, an upgradeable FOB and a persistent stash as the central changes from the old DMZ Beta.

Equipment between runs
In the AMA, the team contrasts starting an Operator over after death in the old Beta with rescuing an MW4 Operator’s Traits and equipping them from the stash. For a returning player, the practical change is to build replacement inventory rather than assume every recovery starts with an empty preparation screen.

The developers emphasize cash for weapon upkeep and ingredients for the 3D Printer. That gives you reasons to extract specific materials. Our recommendation is to record one current upgrade requirement before a run rather than use a legacy list of high-value objects without checking whether it serves your MW4 goal.

Weapon levels vs weapon access
Weapon XP and attachment unlocks are shared across modes, while buying weapons inside DMZ requires extracted manuals. A familiar gun already leveled in Multiplayer is therefore not automatically available to purchase in DMZ. That distinction matters when planning a replacement loadout.

Do not import an MWII timer, insurance rule, item recipe or spawn guide without verifying it in MW4. The name DMZ is shared, but that does not make every old rule current. The pages linked below cover the new manual-based loot question, Operator recovery and present solo matchmaking.
