What is MW4 DMZ?
MW4 DMZ is an extraction mode: enter Hajin, pursue an objective, collect equipment and try to bring it home. Leaving alive matters as much as winning a fight.

What is the objective?
There is no single obligation to hunt every player. Story Missions, Dynamic Operations and exploration offer different reasons to enter the zone. AI enemies and rival Operators occupy the same world; the presence of a mission objective does not make a run private.

Infinity Ward identifies the persistent stash and upgradeable Forward Operating Base as major changes from the old DMZ Beta. Extracted resources can support future preparation rather than being useful only during the current match.
Source for this sectionA concrete example
Suppose you need a weapon manual. Your plan can be to search suitable containers and extract with it, rather than chase a distant firefight. The developer AMA says manuals are often found in military containers and safes, and must be extracted to unlock the corresponding DMZ purchase option. That is a location hint, not a guaranteed spawn.

Use the beginner guide for your preparation sequence. Use the PvE/PvP guide if your deciding question is whether other players can attack you. Use the free-loadout guide when you want to begin without risking your preferred equipment.
